A small noise woke sandy up and he quickly went to the entrance of his den. His eyes widen as he smelt a lot of humans wandering the forest. He can hear them calling to each other on radios.
"They started combing the forest early morning." Alex was sitting on the ledge, worry clear in his voice. Sandy went to sit beside him, keeping an ear out for the others. They all seem to be deeply asleep.
"Listen, I must go. In order to use the magic, just feel it deep within. It is like shifting but more passive. Can't explain it more than that as I am born a werewolf, not bitten. These agents must have been researching and preparing this on the week that we was busy. Don't try to control the magic. It will come natural to defend you from threats. I will find you when we need to come together. See you around kid." Alex gave him a wink before jumping down. Sandy watch him leave but smelt fred's scent by the border behind the den. Weird as most often comes to the front. He gave a short bark to wake the others and lead them to the border. On the way, he told them about the hunters and what alex said.
"So there are hunters...hunting?! right now? I just started being this. I didn't get any training and to be honest...my wolf is the one whispering to me. Telling me what to do. And he telling me to follow you. Something about an alpha." Dallas said as he look at sandy in awe. Sandy ears went down fast as he notice the look dallas was giving him.
"I'm not an alpha and we barely have a pack. There is only me, Z, ariel and you if you really want to join. No pressure. Guldo here is a traveler and she can join if she want to." He nodded at guldo as she look back at him. He saw that her nose was green, which meant experiments was done on her. He didn't say anything more as they reach the border, seeing fred with a bigger female wolf by his side. She had dark black fur with a dark red raccoon like mask on her face. Her eyes is blue and she sat with her tail on her side, looking like a royal. Everyone knew that this must be fred's alpha. She has a white fur mohawk but it was smaller than sandy and fred.
"Hello Bitten pack. My name is Bloodmask. My meat name is chloe. I was wondering if you need help getting out of here. The agents has a red fur werewolf on their side. And your den is surrounded. Times like these is when we need to work together. Despite you refusing to join, you still have the blood of the valley pack in you. Our law says to always help the blooded out. Especially in cases like this. Head back to your den and get prepared to leave. Will let out a howl to let you know to go." She gave a nod at sandy before getting up, turning away to run into the forest.
"Wait! May I talk to fred before you go?" Sandy ran forward to stop him when he got up.
"You have a few minutes. I know the bond between the biter and bitten so no need to explain." She reply before leaving. Fred sat back down, tilting his head in confusion.
"I want to thank you. For making me a werewolf. I'm learning so much and got so much freedom. Well once the hunters go away. And just be careful. My wolf inside is telling me that you are important to me. Guessing that the bond bloodmask talk about." He sat down in front of fred.
"It is because of the venom in our fangs. When werewolves bite meats with the intent to turn them, there a bond there. I bit you with the intent to turn you because i thought you look strong. You did outrun a pack of werewolves and managed to climb up that tree very fast. Wasn't expecting you to learn so fast." He wag his tail as he nose sandy's neck.
"You stay safe too. Don't worry about us. Bloodmask is a great alpha and she knows how to deal with hunters." Fred left as sandy head back to their den.
"Maybe that bond thing is why I'm a bit worry about him. Despite him trying to eat me but no one deserves to be a test subject. Not that I care about that asshole." Zamas mutter as they wait for the signal.
"I don't know who bit me but I too feel it inside." Ariel said as he look at dallas. Dallas just nodded.
"Was born a werewolf so don't have that bond. But I do know it feels the same as when one leaves their birth pack. I do miss my family. But I like traveling too." Guldo said as she sat down.
Suddenly a howl sounded and the group leap off the cliff as the agents ran towards the sound. Dallas was climbing down the cliff til sandy grab him with his mouth and carry him as they jump. They land and start to run to zamas home. It was the closest safe place they could go. Once they reach it, they saw her mother being taken by the agents into a car. Sandy had to hold zamas down as she tried to rescue her mom. They was around a corner listening to the agent reporting in.
"Tony sir we got the mother. Coming back now. Bad news is that red escape. Also found she claw out her tracking chip so no clue on where she could have gone." The agent said into the radio.
"With the other two, the monsters have no choice but to contact us. Told nick red shouldn't be with us but no matter. We got what we needed from her long ago. We are done here, just return." The radio responded.
Sandy notice that the voice of the leader sounded exasperated. Like things wasn't going his way. This means alex's pack probably got away and alex didn't get caught either. The car sped away as they sat down.
"We need to head to my home. I think they got my sister but I'm hoping she got away. Tony said two, so it could be julie or someone ariel knows." Sandy growls softly.
"Hey! I'm new so why would they know about me? Besides my family knows nothing and I trust amy. Besides why would you think they have someone I know? Julie does make sense." Ariel jump in front of sandy snarling. Sandy let out a loud snarl that made ariel's legs shake but he kept glaring at sandy. Zamas and dallas both jump in between them. Zamas is facing sandy while dallas is facing ariel. They both whine to calm them down before a fight broke out. Ariel is the first to back down and look away. Sandy is still baring his fangs til zamas nose him on the cheek.
"Im sorry ariel. That was very rude of me. Of course I don't wish bad on you or anyone you know. Just don't know what came over me." Sandy gave a small whine as an apology. Ariel just nod to let him know he accepts it.
They ran back to the forest since the agents was gone. That when they scent another werewolf that they never smelt before. Following the scent, they found a red wolf with a bloody arm laying in the river. She let out a weak growl as they surround her.
"Easy. We aren't your enemies. Who are you? Do you need help?" Zamas asks as the wolf look at them.
"Name's lily. Was captured by the hunters but managed to escape. They didn't think I would notice something in my arm but I chew it out. Now I'm just healing and put my arm in the river to numb it. Anyway I'm a loner so no need to attack or chase me out. Anyway the agents are still around. Just in the other part of the forest. Anyway I be out of your fur soon." She said as she close her eyes.
"You can come with us if you want. We won't be here long so just follow our scent." Guldo look at her with empathy.
"Hold on guldo. This must be the werewolf that the agents call red. How do we know she really escape and it not a trap? She can lead us straight to the leader." Sandy narrow his eyes.
"You are a good one. Not soft or naive. But no I'm not with them. Be careful of the one they call nick. He a very cruel meat who did a lot on me. No way I would willingly work with them. But no I won't be joining you. Just go as I'm good being on my own." Lily open one eye to watch them go.
Guldo was the only one who look back as they ran. They felt magic covering them and dallas jump on sandy back.
"You all are used to doing this much running but I am not. Thought it be much better if I was on your back instead of being carried by mouth. Didn't want to slow us down." dallas said with a small chuckle. Sandy stop running when he felt dallas on his back.
"Could have ask me first." Sandy mutters as he start running again. They ran passed many agents but they didn't bat an eye at them. So much for there no agents here. Sandy thought as they manage to make it to his home.
Sandy stop, smelling scents that didn't belong. He look through the window, growling loud as he saw blood spill and the place is a mess. They kidnap sharon? So they knew their human identities. "I'm sorry san. We can hope she is still alive," Zamas step close enough to brush fur with him.
"Guess there is no safe spot." Ariel mutters softly. He watch as dallas jump off sandy's back and start pacing back and forth.
They all turn around when they heard pawsteps coming towards them. Another werewolf appear panting heavily. He is a brown wolf with blue eyes, black diamond mark on his forehead with a pale underbelly and white tip tail.
"Been chasing you a long time. Smelt you but had to avoid all the agents. Been down wind as my mentor taught me. It's me Joe. From work. My mentor also lived in the brighton forest but on the other side. While running, I saw a pack of dogs and knew you had to be werewolves. Yeah I got bitten as well. That is it." Joe lay down as he catches his breath.
"I know a place but not sure of the welcome." Sandy said as he look at the others.
"Agents report!" Tony glare at rhody and owen as nick gave him a cup of coffee.
"Well got bad news boss. They aren't talking. All of them. Going to starve them out so maybe that may loosen their lips. Two belong to a biker gang so torture won't work on them." Owen said with a determined look.
"Seems to me they would be in the forest but we don't got enough men to comb every area. You did tell higher ups this was a survey mission. We can't burn down the forest either as that would destroy evidence of monsters living here. I think we got enough for now." Rhody said as a drone flew to him.
"Boss, I also got bad news. Seem Red has escaped while no one was looking. Remember I put a tracking chip in her but she claw it out. And to think I took care of her so well. Did see a pack of dogs though. One even had a cute terrier on it back. Nick glance warily at him.
Tony close his eyes and massage his forehead. "Owen, head to blues hill reservation. If I was a monster, I would head to the biggest forest near here. Rhody. You and Nick head to brockton. Maybe sandy would be dumb and head home, hoping for a hideout. They would smell the blood I spilt when I fought with sharon and rob. Remember the no kill order. We already got one so I want the others. More proof we have, the faster we can get the higher ups attention." The others move out as tony sat on a chair in the temporary office they set up for him.
He rub his forehead as he remembered trying to find nil or any of the others that work in the silver moon club. Seem like they completely disappeared. Asking around the police did nothing. Since nils didn't do any crime, they don't have any records on him. It like he just appeared out of thin air. Now it seems he being protected by the monsters too. The only thing he can do is head to the science lab building that they paid for. By reading nick's research, he can think of plans to get the werewolves. They was lucky enough to get one that was drinking by the edge of the river. He went to the lab and saw the auburn wolf with the black tail tip. It's eyes was closed as it is sleeping. Bet you got a pack out there that is worried sick. he thought as he look at him. He gave a creepy smile as he figured out how to draw out the others. But first he must wait til the others are done and come back.
"Well welcome to my home. I did tell you that you are welcome back anytime sandy. And you brought friends. Sorry about your home but we do have extra rooms. We do got small dens behind the house for the loners and travelers whenever they come through. And who are your friends?" Audrey asks as they walk inside the house. Sandy is in human form since he managed to get his clothes and a bag for other stuff since clearly his home isn't safe anymore. He took a good sniff to imprint the scents in his mind. His wolf snarl inside as he open the fridge and gave everyone some meat before they left. They still have dallas bag but since he was new, knew it would take too much time so he didn't even ask if dallas want to shift back. As he called audrey and explain everything, agents did show up, looking through the window. Good thing they was in the basement where there was a door leading out. That was when they snuck out without the agents seeing them and ran into the forest. They ran fast to brockton bat centre and that where audrey picked them up.
"You know me. This is zamas, ariel, dallas, guldo and finally joe. We are all bitten but guldo. Dallas need lessons as he is new and might want to shift back. Got his bag here." Sandy said while pointing at each wolf.
"Seem the magic hid you well. I can see the dog forms as well as the wolf types underneath. Like this one is a cute terrier." She said pointing at dallas. "You seem to be a husky or german sherpard mix." She point at zamas. "Guldo you just look like a stay mutt that you see on the streets. Sorry." Guldo just shrug. "At least it not obvious." She replied. "Ariel you look like a toy fox terrier. Red wolves often get dog disguises that has to do with big ears. Joe, you look like a golden retriever. Which kinda fit cuz you smell so happy." She grin at them all.
"Anyway let my packmates lead you to your rooms." Without a word, five people appear and ask them to follow them. The house did have four floors and as they climb the stairs, they scent many werewolves on the other floors. As they pass the doors, sandy recognize trix, chaos and emma scents. They each got their own rooms on the fouth floor since there was six guest rooms. The rooms all had fresh sheets, beds and clean dressers for clothes. Sandy put dallas bag in his room before relaxing. Finally we are safe, he thought as he look around. The dressers is full with clothes for them since audrey did ask how many people he had with him so he knew she got the clothes today. He even had an empty drawer for his clothes.
A knock sounded, he told them to enter and wasn't surprise to see zamas.
"So what the plan?" She asks as she sat on the bed. "Cuz I think we need to ask for the training here. Saw a training ground out the window, so need to learn how to fight and be a true pack. Dallas did want to join us so that means we got four members. Me, you, ariel and dallas.
"Let just relax first. Dallas and ariel both need shifting training and we need to train but we just escaped agents. Let relax and slow down. We both know they won't hurt the hostages they got cuz they are supposed to be the good guys. Besides both sharon and rob would be planning to escape too. This won't be the first time they get held for information." Sandy grin warily as he sat besides her. Zamas gave him a hug, which shock sandy but he return it as he needed it.
"I know you too well sandy. You are full of worry for them. No need to try to be strong for me." She murmurs. They stay like that for a few minutes before a howl sounded. A very familiar howl. They look at each other before rushing downstairs. Opening the front door with audrey behind them, they saw ron's body collapsing in front of the door. He is heavily damaged like he been in a fight with a pack. Sandy held him wondering what could hurt him.
"Helen!" Audrey shouted. A woman with stern green eyes and dark hair in a bun appeared. She check him over before picking him up. "Don't worry. I will heal him to the best of my ability." She said as she took him downstairs.
"That way is the medic bay. She is one of the oldest healer I know so don't worry. We will take care of him." She said with a calm aura that washes over them, calming them down. He saw trix rushing downstairs with a medic bag, knowing there nothing he can do.
"Come. Let me introduce you to my pack." She said as the others join them. They heard the howl but didn't know it was someone sandy and zamas knew. Plus they was busy shifting back into human forms. Ariel helped dallas with it. They follow audrey to the second floor living room.
"As you can tell, we built this house ourselves. Even added an extra floor too for guests. With our strength and teamwork, nothing is impossible. Of course it took a few days and we just finished it when I got your call. Anyway you know me. Helen and trix is our healers. Trix is the student. Chaos is my beta." She said as she sat down in a chair with chaos standing besides her. They sat down across from them.
"There are six pups. Their names are leo, jack, charles, scarlet, sophia and grace. They are pups from other members of the pack. So no, I'm not a mother. Scouts are lupo, emma, and eric. And last is the omegas. stan, stacy and ivy. They clean the place and cook. These are just some of the important members. We got a lot more but they don't live here. Otherwise we wouldn't manage to build a floor in a few days." She chuckles softly.
"How though? Construction takes a lot of time. Plus you still have a roof despite it having to be knock down for you to make a floor." Joe asks as he was interested in construction.
"unlike meats, we don't need machines. It takes a few hours to go to the store to grab as much construction items as we need, use our strength to knock down the roof and get rid of everything in the walls. Some of our members is plumbers and electricians. They take care of that stuff while the rest of us use tools to make the floors and walls. What take meats months, take us a few days. Or hours since we all was here." Chaos said with a chuckle.
"Don't forget that we have more strength, stamina and can sniff out problems in wires before it start. Anyway my pack has eighty members but only twenty one lives here. Tomorrow my pack will help you train. So relax and you can go anywhere in the house. Except the rooms of course. Why would any of you barge in strangers' rooms?" Audrey said as she got up. They look at each other before leaving. They spent the day reading or exploring or testing the floor of the new floor. There was a bathroom on each floor too. Joe was busy flushing each toilet to make sure it works. Ariel and guldo was walking in the forest, seeing the pups hunting lessons, making sure not to interrupt them. Despite being hunted, they did relax being surrounded by others of their kind.
