Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: Chickens Flying and Eggs Breaking

Xiang Yang first walked up to the door, repeatedly confirming with the notebook in his hand several times, and only then did he fumble to open the cover of the password lock and input the password.

"Beep, password correct, please verify fingerprint and iris authentication."

The mechanical and stiff synthesized voice suddenly sounded.

Lu Ren couldn't help but smirk, "So how are you supposed to get in? I don't think you have the fingerprint verification and iris confirmation for this test center, right?"

Xiang Yang ignored Lu Ren's sarcasm, turned the notebook to the second page, studied it seriously for a few minutes, and then carefully input nearly a hundred characters on the touchpad.

"Beep, super administrator activated, connecting to the main control center... Center authentication complete, special privilege granted, glad to see you again, Super Commander! Please re-authenticate your fingerprint information and iris patterns here."

After Xiang Yang completed the confirmation, he turned his head to Lu Ren and said, "You should come too."

Lu Ren was stunned: "Me too?"

Xiang Yang said seriously, "You're stronger than me, if I accidentally die, you still have a chance to escape. Without any privilege authentication inside, you wouldn't be able to move an inch."

Lu Ren was slightly moved in his heart, unexpectedly glanced at Xiang Yang, what's this, could he have been conquered by my handsome face?

This gaze directly made Xiang Yang's face blush, and she said shyly, "What are you looking at?"

"I must say, you do look quite beautiful under this light."

Xiang Yang's face turned even redder, and she stammered, "Uncle, don't you think our age gap is too big?"

Lu Ren shook his head slightly, stepped forward, and asked, "What do I need to do?"

"Like this..."

Following Xiang Yang's instructions, Lu Ren recorded his fingerprint and iris. After the alloy door made a teeth-grating sound of gears colliding, it slowly opened.

Lu Ren's pupils contracted sharply, and the longsword he held tightly in his hand suddenly stabbed into the gap of the just-opened alloy door.

Swoosh!

A sound of flesh being cut suddenly echoed, followed by a sharp and large hand full of black scales reaching for him. The longsword directly sliced off half of the hand.

Automatically temporarily filtering out the system's nonsensical prompt sounds in his mind, Lu Ren leaned back, and then his left sword chopped heavily at the sharp fingers covered with scale armor of the opponent.

Clang!

The sound of metal clashing resounded suddenly. Lu Ren's left hand was numbed from the shock, but besides bursting into a row of sparks, it did not break the defense at all.

This forced Lu Ren to quickly withdraw his sword and retreat, while Xiang Yang on the side showed no hesitation, drawing the dagger from the outside of her thigh and slashing it at the opponent.

The result made Lu Ren widen his eyes in disbelief. The dagger sliced through the scale-armored arm as if it was cutting through tofu, not meeting any resistance, even creating a sharp edge sensation in the air.

Just like the Sword Qi described in martial arts novels.

"What kind of dagger is this?"

"A high-frequency cutting blade, capable of slicing through any known alloy effects through high-frequency vibrations."

Xiang Yang only had time to explain briefly.

Hearing this made Lu Ren's heart itch, damn it, wouldn't I be invincible with this?!

Lu Ren glanced at the severed arm still flailing on the ground, then fixed his gaze on the opened alloy door, and the monster silhouette revealed behind.

Standing at least two and a half meters tall, covered with scale armor all over its body, and its facial features protruding with fangs in its mouth, but Lu Ren could see clearly, most parts were covered, however, some areas were exposed with black skin patterns, just indistinguishable due to the similar color.

As the alloy door opened, the monster roared and bent to charge into the hallway.

With no way to retreat, if this big guy really charged into the hallway, there wouldn't be much room for maneuver.

So Lu Ren chose not to retreat but advance, sidestepping the sweeping claw, using the momentum to slide on his knees from under the monster, and in that instant, thrusting his twin swords into the undefended lower part until the hilt, he could even vaguely feel the dangling presence above his head, which made him feel a bit nauseated.

The next moment, a piercing howl that seemed to vibrate the entire base roared out of the monster's mouth.

Even Xiang Yang found herself tensing at this scene, with a sudden egg-pain sensation lingering in her heart.

It's perverse, it's terrifying!

For some reason, she suddenly wanted to walk with her tail between her legs.

Rolling continuously for over five meters, Lu Ren steadied himself, just watching that polluted creature clutching its crotch, kneeled, and didn't move.

"Ding, your twin swords strike suddenly with god-like precision, critically hitting the Wupin Demon, resulting in a critical damage bonus, thereby provoking some insight, increasing your Basic Swordsmanship skill level by 100."

"Ding, you acted on a sudden impulse, executing agile maneuvers beyond the Wupin Demon's expectations, inflicting massive damage, increasing your Agility Proficiency by 50."

Lu Ren smirked, as his skill level continuously improved, his twin swords became increasingly smooth and proficient in his hands.

This would greatly enhance his survival capability.

He stood up, turned around, narrowed his eyes, and thrust a precise slash at the Wupin Demon's unscaled neck area, stopping only at the neck bone.

Clicking his tongue, if the sword in his hand was as sharp as Xiang Yang's dagger, the massive head would have been severed off long ago.

As his thoughts flashed, Lu Ren's left hand didn't pause, chopping similarly from the left into the Wupin Demon's neck, stopping at the bone.

His wrists flicked slightly, both hands suddenly releasing the longsword, drawing a circle around the Wupin Demon's neck, before breaking away and dropping not far away.

And the Wupin Demon was already spraying blood, collapsing heavily.

If encountered on the frontline battlefield, this monster would be an extremely troublesome opponent, but the real world has no ifs.

Real combat is not purely a competition of two people's strength; time, place, and person all impact the final battle result.

Xiang Yang blocked the opposing arm at the doorway, chopping down the other arm in the narrow hallway entrance.

These factors allowed Lu Ren to achieve the kill in one go.

"Ding, you experience a sudden inspiration, unexpectedly executing a Double Flying Swallow Form to kill the Wupin Demon, increasing your Basic Swordsmanship skill level by 100."

Goddamn Double Flying Swallow!

Lu Ren couldn't help but snark inwardly, picking up his weapon and looking at Xiang Yang: "You lead the way."

A stunned Xiang Yang finally reacted, gesturing in shock, "You just killed it like that??"

"Otherwise, do you think we're going to fight it for hundreds of rounds to determine a winner?"

"No, I mean, this monster looks really strong, I thought we'd have a tough time eliminating it."

"When you have high attack and low defense, quickly resolving the battle is the best way, it might withstand dozens of your hits, but if you take a hit from it, it's over, so in a life-and-death battle, you must aim at the opponent's weak points."
