"Chant the sutras! Liberate all ghouls and malevolent spirits!"
"Yes!"
Immediately, a group of monks gathered together, their chant growing louder.
But then, the thundering noise became incessant, and after the monks' eyes adjusted to the darkness, they realized... the sound was coming from nowhere else but the coffin!
The coffin, placed in the center of the hall without support, suddenly started shaking on the spot, its lid, not nailed down properly, was now flapping noisily.
"Dust to dust, soil to soil, since you have ascended westward, why cling to the earthly realm?"
An old monk yelled in anger, "Mercy of Buddha!"
While talking, he grabbed his Buddhist beads, ready to press them onto the coffin.
But suddenly, the lid of the coffin popped open and began rolling in mid-air, buzzing incessantly.
Soon after, a figure sat up in the coffin, its body decomposed, but now it opened its eyes—staring coldly and mercilessly at the monks.
