Chapter 17 - The Mysterious Blue Haired Hero

(Your welcome🙃)

(Musutafu Japan: 3rd Person Pov)

Back inside of Rimuru's home, he had woken up early once more seeing how the clock was just around 4 am, Rimuru got up stretching his body as he muttered.

"Honestly am I human? Servant? Demi-Servant? It's really annoying to ponder what I am exactly. So far, I don't need long periods of rest to recover physically and mentally, but maybe that's just because I haven't gone all out? Or wasted a large amount of mana?"

Just then Rimuru's stomach growled in hunger as he concluded.

"Demi-Servant it is."

Rimuru went ahead to the bathroom to freshen himself up, and while showering he sighed thinking of his plan to officially go into the public's eye.

'Ugh. Honestly I'd much prefer a more indirect role as a Hero, but if I don't go out there and rise through the hero rankings, I doubt the UA's salary alone will be enough to support me. Should I reveal my face when doing hero work? It's got it's own pro's and con's. Namely an increase in popularity due to my natural beauty, but what's annoying is the fans. Last thing I need is dealing with the unnecessary headaches that beauty naturally attracts.'

Rimuru soon left the bathroom after freshening himself up, changing into his Demon Lord outfit, Rimuru proceeded to wear his mask and leave his house as he pondered.

'Should I activate the bounded field? But if Nezu comes to investigate it'll just be another pain in my ass. Never mind I'll just lock the door.'

Rimuru then locked his door and left his house fading into spirit form as he headed to his first destination which was UA High School to cook himself some breakfast.

After a few minutes of travelling in Spirit Form, Rimuru arrived near the UA entrance where he rematerealised himself showing his faculty ID in front of the cameras as the gates opened up and Rimuru made his way into the building heading straight to the cafeteria to go and eat.

—-(Break!)—-

After having eaten his breakfast, Rimuru began patrolling the streets of Musutafu as the sun rose and the citizens of Japan made their way to work for the day.

Rimuru's mask and outfit earned him some curious glances, and questions about if he was a brand new hero to which he confirmed before they nodded and then continued on with their lives as Rimuru thought to himself in amusement.

'Heh. This is pretty funny. They're asking if I'm new, and after satisfying their curiosity it's back to their jobs. But surprising enough, crime rates are really low. It's been over an hour now and not a single bank robbery or theft. Let's see if I can find a crime in action from a higher vantage point.'

Rimuru walked into an alleyway where he faded into his spirit form and leapt onto the closest apartment building's rooftop where he manifested himself and began scanning the entire city. Nothing within a 25 kilometre distance could escape his Hawkeye.

As Rimuru scanned buildings, alleyways, and nearby banks, his eyes caught something interesting. A group of what could only be described as mercenaries with ski masks rushed into the banks building as Rimuru hummed.

"Well. Guess my first debut will be stopping an active robbery."

Rimuru leapt high into the air fading into spirit form as he condensed his magical energy around his feet and propelled himself with his mana burst shooting him at mach speeds but due to not being corporal, he didn't need to worry about causing sonic booms as he projected Rider Medusa's nail whips throwing them into the rooftop of the bank and pulling on the chain and still being in spirit form he phased through the rooftop before returning to his physical form when he landed on the ground inside the bank hearing the screams of panic and terror from the civilians as Rimuru called out to the villains surprising both the villains and civilians as Rimuru waved a hand in a casual manner to the surprised and wary criminals.

"Yo."

Rimuru immediately took notice of the visible physical appearance of these villains. One had chainsaws sticking out their elbows, one had a body made of pure metal, three of them looked normal with only faint sparks of electricity and the last one of the villains turned into a large bulky figure made of bricks and charged towards Rimuru as he yelled.

"I don't know how you got inside, but I'm going to make you regret messing with us! You shouldn't have tried to play hero kid!" When he was within striking distance, he threw a wild haymaker towards Rimuru's head that he stopped with his index finger shocking everyone present as he spoke.

"How rude. Just because I'm short doesn't mean I'm weak or useless you know!"

Rimuru pulled his right shoulder slightly back, coiled like a spring as he dipped subtly to his right, transferring his weight downward and twisting his hips. Then — snap — Rimuru drove upward with his legs, and finally exploding through his fist making contact with the villains Diaphragm.

"*GASP*"

It took only a second for all the air to leave the lungs of the villain instantly his eyes rolling to the back of his skull as he was knocked out.

"Well now, that was fun."

Rimuru spoke cheerfully from behind his mask before vanishing fro everyone's line of sight and immediately knocking out the other villains before tying them up together with a long chain he projected as he turned to the civilians and questioned calmly.

"Is everyone alright? Anyone who's sustained any injuries please speak up and I'll aid you to the best of my abilities. I'm a licensed hero so there's no need to fear anything."

Rimuru's calm words eased any fear the civilians felt as the children rushed to him with stars in their eyes.

"WOAH! Onii-san are you really a hero?"

"What's your Hero name?"

Rimuru nodded his head.

"My name is Rimuru Tempest. But you can just call me Rimuru for short. Are all of you kids alright? No injuries?"

The kids shook their heads.

"We're alright!"

Came the vocal voice from the kids as Rimuru nodded gently nudging them back.

"Alright kids, go back to your parents now. I'll take the villains away, and all of you can leave safely."

The kids nodded their heads as Rimuru looked to the adults.

"I'll be bringing the captured villains outside. Rather you wish to follow me out and leave or stay inside the bank and continue your business that's up to you."

Rimuru looked around the stunned hostages who nodded at his words, and as he lifted the chained up villains, he turned back to the hostages and bank employees.

"Before I leave I'll ask once more. Anyone here has any injuries or illnesses acting up right now? If I know now I can tell the paramedics in advance what you've already told me."

Rimuru's words caused the adults to look around before one of them spoke up.

"I-I don't think any of us were harmed. And it doesn't look like any of us have any illnesses acting up. But thank you for your concern and for stopping the villains Rimuru-San."

Rimuru nodded his head as he began walking out of the bank with a few of the hostages following behind him as he stepped out of the bank the police had already arrived alongside two unexpected Heroes, and a slew of news reporters and curious civilians with their phones out recording the scene with zero regards for their personal safety.

'The Dragon Hero: Ryukyu and her sidekick Nejire-Chan if I remember.'

Ryukyu's eyes narrowed staring at the blue haired hero before her as she questioned.

"How are the civilians? Is there anyone who is injured?"

Rimuru seemed impressed behind his mask that the first she asked about was the safety of the civilians as he shook his head and replied.

"Already asked. The civilians seem to be relatively alright. A bit scared from being held hostage temporarily but they're unharmed."

Ryukyu nodded her head as she asked a second question.

"May I know if you are a licensed hero? If yes may I please see your hero license just to confirm your legitimacy?"

Rimuru nodded as he dropped the unconscious villains in front of the police and dismissed the chain around them shocking everyone nearby as he took out his wallet and grabbed his license that Ryukyu checked out while Nejire went to check on the civilians in the bank in case anyone needed help even if she was really curious about this hero who had the same hair colour similar to herself.

"Name Rimuru Tempest, and you just started huh?"

Ryukyu nodded her head as she returned the license and spoke.

"Thank you for saving the civilians and apprehending the villains. I am Ryukyu and the girl who just went into the bank is my sidekick Nejire-Chan."

She stretched out her hand as Rimuru shook it and replied.

"I'm aware of you. The Dragon Hero and among the top 10 most popular hero in Japan. I'm Rimuru Tempest a hero who just recently got his license as you can see from the official date on the license."

Ryukyu just gave a nod as Nejire came out of the bank and spoke.

"Ryukyu-Sensei! I just talked with the bank employees and civilians still in the bank. They've confirmed that everything's fine since this hero Rimuru-San saved them."

The girls voice was cheerful and bubbly as Rimuru shivered thinking to himself.

'Ugh. An extrovert. A terrifying existence indeed.'

Nejire smiled as she stared at Rimuru stretching out her hand.

"I'm Nejire-Chan! Ryukyu-Sensei's sidekick! The people inside the bank had so much praise for you Rimuru-San! They said you defeated the bad guys in a single punch! That must have been incredible! Was it because of your quirk? If yes, what does your quirk do? I heard from the people inside you made a chain out of thin air! Is it true? Is that your quirk?"

Rimuru's body shivered again as Nejire spewed out question after question. He shook her hand as he answered.

"Nice to meet you Nejire-Chan. Thank you for the compliment, but while I did create the chain that captured the villains, it wasn't the main reason for how I defeated them. I beat them by catching them off guard because they thought I wasn't strong which made it easier to knock them out. As for the name of my quirk, it's called projection. What it does? I'll leave that up to you to solve."

Nejire's eyes sparkled in excitement at the challenge, however, they were interrupted by a group of reporters flashing their mics towards Rimuru's masked face as they threw out questions after questions.

"Excuse me! We're you the one who captured the villains?"

"I've never seen or heard of you before. Are you a brand new hero who is just debuting?"

"Are you working under any agency at the moment?"

"Is Miss Ryukyu planning to recruit you to join her agency?"

"Why are you wearing a mask?"

Ryukyu just sighed at the reporters and Nejire just watched with that same bubbly smile on her face as Rimuru replied.

"Yes. I'm the one who bested the villains. I'm a new hero you can just call Rimuru Tempest or Rimuru for short. No I'm not working under any agency, nor was miss Ryukyu planning to recruit me. I'm wearing a mask purely for aesthetic purposes. And unfortunately, I need to continue on my journey to help the community so I'll take my leave now goodbye."

Rimuru vanished from where he stood shocking everyone even Ryukyu and Nejire.

'He's incredibly fast. I could just barely tell where he ran off to.'

Ryukyu noted as she turned to Nejire and spoke.

"Come on Nejire. We're continuing with our patrol."

Nejire nodded her head with a bright cheerful smile.

"Alright Ryukyu-Sensei!"

Ryukyu and Nejire waved goodbye to everyone as Ryukyu transformed into her dragon form and took to the skies alongside Nejire who followed. Meanwhile Rimuru was on a nearby building as he sighed in exhaustion.

"I hate reporters."

Before standing up straight once more and focusing his gaze in search of his next move after all, fame won't come to him by just doing nothing, and he had already promised Midoriya to train him so he's gotta be quick with his work for today.
