Liiza had mentioned that during the departure, but Khan had yet to realize how serious she was. Still, the intense warning in her gaze answered that question.
"Married, you say?" Khan asked.
"I wasn't joking," Liiza explained. "Upon my authority as [Guru], [Shaman], and next in line to become an [Elder], I declare us married."
Liiza's declaration was unilateral. She didn't ask Khan's opinion or permission. It became a reality as soon as she spoke those words, and Khan couldn't blame her. After all, he had just made her betray her species again.
As for Khan, he didn't hate the idea. Far from that, actually, but marriage had become a tricky topic for him. It wasn't only a matter of past sad events and unfulfilled promises, either. Khan was biologically dangerous, and that could get in the way of creating any sort of family.
