Chapter 74 - A Long Stretch

The King had asked Jayce and Terek if they could step outside for a moment so he could speak to Ganon, his brother, alone for a few moments. Meanwhile, they sat outside of the throne room in a separate room which had wooden chairs, tables and a couple couches for any friendly visitors. Jayce sat down at the the largest table, leaning back with his head on the chair. Terek had decided to lay down on one of the couches by the door stretched out. His sword stood upright agaisnt the rock wall. Timber however, couldn't help herself and began to sniff around the room. There had been so many smells in this important room but one caught her attention. She was now sniffing a cabinet when she bumped into a smell similar to the two with her.

Jayce looked over from his chair, seeing the Direwolf smelling what looked like a scroll or a book. He slips out of the chair and walks over to her, gently rubbing her head as he sees it clearly. It was neither book nor scroll but rather a note hidden under a scroll itself. "Terek, Timber found a note over here that I think you should hear."

Terek looks over, his right brow raised.

In the Throne room the king stood beside his throne, his thick hand holding the corner as he looked at the exposed stone wall. "I wish I had more time with ye brother but I need your help before ye and the two boys leave."

Ganon looks up at his brother curiously. "What's wrong brother?"

"As the king… Nay… As your brother, I need yer' help. I have an informant that has told me there is a spy in the midst. The Princess' Uncle has recruited a shapeshifter." He balls his right hand then slams it across his chest. "On me name of Umildrir Drakegrip, I will revoke ye banishment so ye may return as you wish." He began to knelt down in front of his younger brother who lifted him back up.

"I am no king, but you are always my brother. Umil… I will help you." Ganon's tone and speech changed slightly as he spoke to his brother. As the two stood in front of the throne, a sudden knock on the door echoed the room.

"Ye may enter." The king called out to the guards as as he watched the doors spread open. The two young men and Timber walked up to the brothers. Jayce held the note in his right hand.

"We know you guys wanted some time alone, but I need to ask you something." Jayce held the note out to King Umildrir and Ganon.

King Umildrir looked at the note. It was slightly dusty but had been in decent condition. "Ah. Haven't seen that in decades." He took the note and dusted it off a little.

"I'm assuming you knew about it didn't you?" Terek had his hand resting on his sheathed sword.

"Aye. I did." King Umildrir looked at it as thoroughly. "We received this way back when our Grandfather was a lad. He would tell us stories of a young human woman with long dark hair."

The two young men knew who he spoke of but didn't want to say anything about her.

"In fact, several years ago I'd seen a woman who matched that description me self." The king stroked his thick beard as he glanced to the floor. "She told me a crazy story, now that I think about it. Now it makes sense." He looked at the two young men that stood in front of the two brothers.

Ganon steps closer to them and looks up. "I know I promised to get ye both to yer destination, but there's a few things I need to do here."

"You got us out of that desert and to this continent. I'm certain we can find who we're looking for on our own." Terek held his hand out for the dwarf as they both shook hands. "I'm sorry I tried to rush you though."

Ganon shook his head before letting go. "Yer young and in a rush. Now go"

"I'll have my councilor escort you down to the main gate." King Umildrir.

They are finally led down by a dwarf casually dressed without armor. A sword sheathed and attached to his belt. Heading down several exposed stairs. At one point they could look out and see the massive city that laid beneath the mountain. Hundreds of thousands of well built stone houses and buildings lit and active before they reach the front gate again. "Are you boys sure you don't need an escort?"

Jayce and Terek look at each other for a moment then look back at the king and Ganon. Terek starts to scratch Timbers side while Jayce held his hand out. "We're sure. Besides, from what I've heard, where we're going is going to be dangerous for your people."

The words clicked in Ganon's head when he realized it. "How do ye know she's there??"

"An exiled Princess, the last of her line. Where else would she go? No offense but it would be dangerous to come here during a war like we did." Terek looked up from Timber to the Dwarven Brothers. "She went there because they stayed neutral in this war and probably have been close to her through the years."

Umildrir, however, could feel something was left out. "She's yer sister isn't she?"

Jayce was a second from saying something when Terek interrupts. "Once we get her and complete our mission, we'll explain everything. Right now we must get going."

"It'll be a week before ye boys get there to the Elven Kingdom of Milalnoris." Umildir took a step to the young men and stopped.

"We can make it in two days at most." The two young men turned to head out the gates, Timber already getting ready to run.

"Are you ready to try it out? We haven't since we left the Village." Terek smirked as he looked at Jayce.

Jayce nodded and was already shifting. Hair growing along his arms and legs, their sacks slung from their sides as they landed on all fours now in the forms of white Dire Wolves. Their eyes bright red as they stood slightly taller than Timber who was already the largest. The three then began to sprint full speed down the Stairs of the main entrance and out onto the bridge.

"Did ye know the two boys could do that?" King Umildir asked his brother.

Ganon just scratched his head watching in amazement. "They never said anything about their abilities… So no.."
