"So with that being said the first thing we're going to do after accepting the job is to go buy you some potions." Griffith says as he leads me towards the reception area to wait in line.
As Griffith said it only took us around thirty minutes to get up to one of the desks. When Griffith and I presented our Adventurer I.ds the reception made a weird face when she saw that Griffiths was pure white while mine was light blue. She decided not to say anything though and just processed our Job request.
After we move away from the desk I ask Griffith "Whats up with your I.d being white?"
"Ohh your I.ds color changes with your rank. You didn't notice before because there's no color difference between unranked and E rank. The colors from E rank to SS rank are blue, green, purple, yellow, orange, red and finally white.
Another interesting thing you should know is that once you hit level one-hundred and move on to a world with a higher level cap not only will jobs be locked by rank, they will also be locked by level. Since the level cap of the world is higher that means that the level of beasts will be higher as well.
My next stop will be a world with the level cap of two-hundred. In that world with me being at level one-hundred I'll only be able to take unranked up to D rank jobs until I raise my level." Griffith explains.
It definitely feels as though I am the student and Griffith is the teacher. That's to be expected though with how often he is drops information bombs on me. I appreciate it though, since I'm a new Player. I wasn't born in World Game so there's a lot of common sense stuff that I have no idea about. I believe that's why Griffith takes the time to explain these types of things to me. The more of these commonly known things that I learn the easier it will be for me to interact with people who have grown up in World Game.
After Griffith explains that to me he leads me over to a store that sells potions.
"Now I recommend getting a few of each tier of potion, this is because different tier potions can/will be used based upon the situation. The tiers of energy potions are A which will restore fifteen Energy every second for a five minutes, B tier which will restore Ten Energy for every second for five minutes, while C tier will restore five energy every second for five minutes.
Then there's one more tier of energy potions that doesn't have a rank and those are the Instant Energy potions. Instant Energy potions will restore eight-hundred of your Energy instantly. That is the strongest instant potion you can find in level one-hundred capped worlds. That's because the body of a level one-hundred person or below can only withstand their energy being restored so fast, its up to one-thousand points on the high end and nine-hundred points on the low end. That's why the law caps Instant Energy potions at eight-hundred because it gives a nice safety buffer since you can never be too sure exactly how much energy your body can handle before you go boom. That's right if you take in to much energy at one time your body will explode.
Your body can also only handle so many energy potions back to back, which is why having different ranked energy potions is important." Griffith said all this without his normally boisterous happy go lucky tone, when he was talking about potions he was completely serious. Just judging from his tone alone made me realize how Important potions were.
Griffith then says " I recommend buying two A ranked potions, now I know that you're thinking that you only have sixteen-hundred Energy right now at level twelve, so why do you need a potion that gives you a total of forty-five hundred Energy. Well the answer to that is Beast Swarms. If you're ever caught in a beast swarm and cant run away from it for whatever reason and have to stay and fight it then you will be firing off your abilities so quick that you will barely have time to keep track of your Energy, which means that you will be depleting your Energy at quite a fast pace. That's where you take an A ranked energy potion. Taking one will allow you to use significantly more abilities in that five minute time as well as keep you from accidentally dying of Energy deprivation. With that said any situation you find yourself in where you think you may run out of energy to use in the first five minutes is a situation where you should consider using an A ranked Energy potion. They will save your life. The only reason I only recommend buying two is because of how expensive they are and because at your level and adventurer tier you could probably get away with using B rank potions in their place. They're Twenty gold a piece. Now I know that's a little pricey but you can't really put a price on your life, and I guarantee that sometime in the future that A grade potion will save your life
B ranked potions will cost you ten gold a piece and I recommend you carry at least five on you. That may seem like a lot, but when you're going to spend possibly weeks out in the wilderness you can find yourself very unlucky and running into quite dire circumstances more frequently than you would believe was possible, especially once you become a C tiered adventurer.
Now as you've probably already deduced C rank potions go for five gold a piece and will typically be the potions you use the most often. This rank of potion is used to cap your Energy reserves after a battle when you're expecting to battle again before your energy naturally replenishes. The only way to replenish your energy naturally is by eating or resting. Most of the time after a tough battle a party will rest and eat an energy rich snack to replenish their energy. Doing so will at least get you closed to capped on energy within an hour. Unfortunately a lot of the times after a strenuous battle you wont have time to take that break, that's because battles cause a lot of noise and commotion which can/will draw other predators to you. That's where C rank potions come in. If you know you're likely to have to battle again before you can rest and regain energy then you take a C grade potion. That's why I recommend you carry at least twenty of them on you.
I say twenty because battling in the wilderness especially in higher tiered hunting grounds you'll find a lot of predators in your area that are attracted to the commotion which will leave you battling non stop until you end up killing all the predators in your area. The reason why C rank potions work so well in this scenario instead of higher tiered ones is because most predators who will be attracted to the commotion of battle will be fairly intelligent by beast standards, rarely will they interrupt a battle that's in progress because then they would have to worry about possibly fighting two separate parties. The predator will usually wait for the battle to be over and a winner to emerge victorious before attacking you when you drop your guard. That means you'll usually have a couple minutes between battles. Which is where the C rank Energy potions comes into play. This is a scenario that you will run into constantly especially when you get into higher tiered hunting grounds.
Now instant potions go for twenty gold each as well, that's because they're the most useful in dire situations as well as being more costly to craft.
Before I explain more first let me say that you can only take so many ranked potions in a small amount of time, not only is it bad for your Energy Channels but they also wont work. you can only take ranked energy potions within fifteen minutes of each other, you can consider that as their cooldown if we're using gaming lingo. Now Instant Energy potions don't share the same cooldown as ranked Energy potions do. so if you find yourself having to fight again within that cooldown time is when you should use an instant potion. With that being the case I recommend you carry at least five of them on you. They are literally like an additional life when inside the wilderness.
Now I know you wont have enough money to buy all these potions so I'm going to pay for them. I'm only doing this because I'm insisting on you buying these potions when you probably wont need them until you reach D rank. I'm mostly making you buy them for my own piece of mind, since you're under my care right now I would feel awful if anything happened to you and I could've done something to prevent it." Griffith says the last bit with his same boisterous laugh and demeanor that he usually has.
" Okay if you really insist that I need these potions then I'll gladly accept you helping me pay for them but I'm going pay for at least half of what they cost, then I will slowly pay you the rest as I complete more Jobs. You're already helping me so much that I can't stand the feeling of taking advantage of your kindness. Even if the Guide told you to help me, I refuse to use that as an excuse that allows me to take advantage of you. The only reason I didn't say anything when we bought the Style Crystal is because that money came straight from the Guide and was a welcoming present from him." I earnestly say to Griffith louder than I actually intended, which draws the eyes of other Adventurers to us.
Even back on earth iv' always paid my debts to those that show me kindness. I'm not going to let coming to World Game change me in that regard, I resolve to myself.
"If you really feel that strongly about it then I wont say no to your request, I can tell that this is a matter that means a lot to you so I won't try to convince you to do otherwise, even though Two hundred and forty gold is really not a lot of money to me at all, I'd make several times that just by doing one Job" Griffith replies while laughing harder than usual, apparently finding my response quite amusing.
"It's the principle of the matter" I say in a sheepish voice, slightly embarrassed by my small outburst.
Ignoring my small comment Griffith further explains "Now health potions are relatively simple and straightforward compared to Energy potions, that's because at level one-hundred or below there's only one health potion available on the market. This one health potions raises your body's natural recovery by one-hundred percent. Meaning that if you use it to heal an injury that would usually take two weeks to heal then it will heal in one week if you constantly take the potion. They are typically used to stop your wound from bleeding so that you don't die of blood loss. These health potions last for an hour and you'll have to take another one after that hour to refresh the effect.
Most parties try to include some kind of healer in their ranks because if you receive a really grievous wound while in the wilderness then these health potions are not going to be able to get you back up to fighting shape right away. They will save your life though in the right circumstances. The health potions go for one gold a piece and I recommend you carrying at least twenty of them on you. That's because if you find yourself badly hurt, as long as it's not a broken leg, an increase of one-hundred percent natural healing for twenty hours will make it so you can at least walk back to the city and be able to defend yourself a little bit."
Feeling as though the Health potions are to expensive and a little lackluster at first I begin to frown, but then I really stopped to think about what it meant to receive one-hundred percent increase to your natural healing. Like Griffith said, if I received a grievous wound in the wilderness then the potion would allow me to heal from said wound and get back to the city in half the amount of time that it would usually take, assuming I had enough potions on me that is. Having thought that out I honestly wished I had the coin to buy even more of them, just in case. As it is I don't have enough gold to pay for twenty of them so I tell Griffith " Unfortunately I only have three gold left to my name, so I'll have to rely on you to buy the health potions. I promise though that I will pay you back before I hit D tier."
Griffith just chuckles before responding " don't worry about it so much, you should just be worried about getting stronger and being able to pay your city fee on time."
